Wienelware values your privacy. The app itself does not collect, track, or store your personal data directly on its own servers.
To provide its core functionality, the app requires access to your device's camera or photo library to extract text from documents. Photos chosen by the user are processed strictly on-device to extract text. The image files themselves are never uploaded to the cloud or shared with third parties.
Once text is extracted or manually pasted, the raw text content is transmitted to OpenAI via their secure API pipeline to generate summaries and accessible text layouts. According to OpenAI's data privacy policies for API developers, data submitted via the API is not used to train their models and may be retained for a limited period for abuse detection and security purposes in accordance with OpenAI's API data retention policies. This data is not linked to your personal identity or device identifiers.
The legal basis for this data processing under the GDPR is Article 6(1)(b) — Performance of a Contract, as this processing is strictly necessary to deliver the service you explicitly request when hitting the summarize/read button.
The app may collect completely anonymous technical diagnostics (such as crash logs, device operating system version, or aggregate feature usage metrics). This telemetry is used purely to optimize stability and layout performance for users with dyslexia. It contains zero personal identifiers and cannot be used to trace back to an individual user.

International Data Transfers: For any data processed outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and the rigorous encryption standards implemented by our API partners to guarantee an equivalent level of data protection.
Wienelware retains absolutely zero user documents, scanned images, or summarized outputs. Your history lives locally on your physical device unless you delete the app. Third-party retention is restricted to the minimum security auditing window required by OpenAI.
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you hold the right to access, rectify, or request erasure of your data, as well as the right to object to or restrict processing. You can instantly revoke data access at any moment by disabling camera or file permissions within your mobile operating system settings. Because Wienelware maintains no user databases or cloud accounts, we hold no personal data to delete or look up upon request.
We may update our Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect minor framework adjustments. Any modifications become effective immediately upon being published on this page. We encourage you to review this document periodically.
